Albufrea Natural Reserve Outing with Students

Posting photos and will add stories later.

During my bike ride I saw them fishing and stopped to watch.  So interesting how they use the poles to navigate the shallow muddy water.  I think the fish they bring up were sardines.

This is the pescadoros house where they get their nets ready.  According to our guide, only people who have lived and fished the lake for 8 centuries can have permission to fish.  I'm guessing he meant 8 generations but everything here is so old, that he might have meant 800 years!

Fascinating stories about how the universities and conservation groups got together to save the lake.  It's the largest fresh water lake in Spain.  Developers wanted to drain it.  Now it's a preserve with careful maintenance of the amount of salt water that flows in and can harm the land and wildlife.
