City Tour with Students

We had a nice tour of the historic town center today.  I'd seen most of it but learned so much about the history of Valencia.

There are a few more photos in this blog with local sites.

This is the Central Market.  Lots of great foods and other treats.  We did not get to go in during the tour because they want to keep it a market and not a tourist destination with large groups going through.  I'm looking forward to going back.

Great bike lanes here that really keep cars and bikes separate.  All major streets have this separation.

This is the narrowest building in Spain.

So many gorgeous plazas.  All have fountains and are paved in gorgeous marble.

Jenni and I stopped for lunch.  We've had great luck finding the best fish and seafood.  So fresh and delicious.  This is a salmon tartare on a bed of avocado with mango.

Valencia has a water court.  It is the oldest oral court in Europe, perhaps the world, dating back to 17th Century.  It is still in operation and every Thursday at noon, the court holds session in Old Town at the Gothic Door.  Anyone, mostly farmers, with concerns about their water rights comes to the door to plead their case.  I did not get a photo of it, but here is the link if you want to know more.
